A housewife in Melaka was arrested on March 20, 2025, for allegedly beating her 10-year-old daughter and splashing hot water on her after the girl used her mother’s makeup without permission. The abuse was uncovered when the child’s teacher noticed bruises on her hands at school, prompted by her wearing regular clothes instead of sports attire. The girl revealed her 36-year-old mother had scolded her, beaten her with an object, and poured hot water on her while her siblings slept. After medical treatment at Melaka Hospital, the mother was remanded for a day under the Child Act 2001 for investigation.
