World leaders have welcomed the diplomatic breakthrough between the United States and Iran, which is set to take effect on Friday. President Donald Trump announced that the US will lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports, allowing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz once the agreement is signed. Iran’s deputy foreign minister confirmed that a formal signing ceremony will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, followed by further talks and a 60‑day negotiation on nuclear issues.

The announcement came amid Israeli airstrikes in Beirut earlier Sunday, with Trump criticising Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Oil prices fell following the deal.
