Remember back in 2013 where Viners (now TikTok) and Twitter (now X) users were filming themselves doing this trend. It even went to the point where memes were made about Malaysian celebrities doing it. The trend is now at least 10 years old and netizens are reminiscing about it.
X Users Now Reminiscing “GWIYOMI” Trend
The girl who popularized the trend is now receiving positive wishes from netizens, not a common occurrence for X users to do this. Furthermore, some state that even their English teachers made them participate in the “GWIYOMI” trend during their lessons and gave them free Milo afterwards.
Following that, some are calling her the original trendsetter on Malaysian social media, as the whole trend spread like wildfire. There are those that even call her “mother” which is a common saying directed towards female celebrities.
