Hotels in Thailand are receiving less bookings from European tourists according to the Thai Hotels Association (THA). Some areas are receiving drops as high as 50% from May onwards. Social media users are apparently not surprised about the situation.

An X user claims that the government is “messing” with the visa programs for Europeans, and this could be the reason why there’s a sharp decline. Social media users feel that the country should continue on its focus to cater all tourists.
Others state the prices have gotten more expensive. Countries like Japan can offer better hotel rates than some parts of Thailand would. Some users said the prices of the rooms they regularly book have shot up more than double.
