A sensitive issue has risen among social media users as a 130-year-old Hindu temple is set to be demolished. Built in 1893, users say the site holds historical significance in the country. However, others state the land it was built on was owned by DBKL, which sold the land back in 2014.
Netizens say 130 year old Hindu Temple should be kept as heritage site
An X user found it upsetting to see several negative remarks thrown towards the Hindu people in Malaysia regarding the issue. The user adds that the land it was built on was public land and that DBKL should’ve not sold public land to a private entity.
Some users add that the management had 130 years to sort this issue out. However, land in such a prime location can be out of reach for a house of worship.
