DBKL Taking Action to Parking Being Reserved in PPR Compounds

1 min read

Many social‑media users have complained that parking at PPR estates has become increasingly difficult over the past few years. The problem is worsened by residents who illegally reserve public bays for private use, reducing availability for everyone.

These parking spaces are generally provided and managed by DBKL, not privately owned by residents, so the issue reflects enforcement and allocation failures rather than individual property rights.

X users complain that a particular PPR location has abandoned cars parked at the parking lots. The user states that there are literal workshops being opened in the parking lots itself, which is highly inappropriate.

PPRs are intended for low‑income households, yet some residents who can afford pricier housing still occupy these subsidised spaces, worsening shortages. Stronger enforcement and clear allocation rules would protect rightful users and restore fairness without penalising those who genuinely need affordable housing.
