Floods that hit the Muda agricultural region on 23 November damaged more than 11,657 hectares of paddy fields, causing nearly RM20 million in losses. MADA chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh said 5,550 farmers in Kedah and Perlis were affected, with Perlis’ Wilayah I recording the largest impact.

Most crops were only seven to 45 days old, disrupting income and the 2025 planting schedule. MADA has applied for post‑flood funding and has already channeled RM611,000 for emergency works, with over RM1 million allocated for drainage and field clean‑ups. Total recovery costs are estimated at RM11.2 million as detailed assessments continue.
