Malaysians Can Now Apply for 10 Year Passports

The long awaited 10 year passports are finally here in Malaysia. Starting today, 1st July 2026, Malaysians aged 18-years-old and above can apply for the long term passport in addition to the existing 5 year option. This service will be available in 71 passport offices. 

Malaysians Can Now Have 10 Year Passports

Some are asking if those who recently renewed their passports, will they be able to have the 10 year option. Usually, passports are able to be renewed only when they’re about to expire. Hence, those who recently renewed their passport will have to wait till theirs expire for the longer option. 

There are those who are confused with the situation, thinking that individuals who’d want to evade the country can do so now. But, with digitalisation, it will be difficult for criminals to do as such.
