Hardware Store in Flag Controversy Reopens to Slow Business After Closure

1 min read

A hardware store in Kepala Batas, embroiled in a Jalur Gemilang controversy, reopened after a four-day closure but saw slow business. Manager Jack Tan said only a few regular customers returned, possibly unaware of the reopening, and hoped trade would recover soon. Police patrols in the area boosted staff confidence. The store closed after an Umno Youth-led rally over a viral video of owner Pang Chin Tian holding an inverted Malaysian flag. Pang was arrested and released on bail. Penang CM’s coordinator visited shops affected by the rally, while police continue investigations following 38 reports lodged nationwide over the incident.
