Maybank to Pay RM166k in Fines After Failing to Prevent Suspicious Transfers

The KL Sessions Court ordered Maybank to pay RM166,000 in damages to Chan Yan Li after unauthorized transfers drained her account. The court found inconsistencies in Maybank’s defense, ruling the suspicious transactions should have raised red flags. Maybank must also pay RM15,000 in costs to the plaintiff.
