TAIPING – A man was, Muhammad Saifuddin Shafik, 36, fined RM23,000 by the Taiping Sessions Court on Friday for making an ugly post about the victims of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) helicopter crash after he pleaded guilty on the charges. According to the charges, the accused was found to have used his X application knowingly to post a disgraceful message with the intention of hurting others.

Saifuddin fined
The message was posted on 23 April 2024 at approximately 6.30 pm at Gedung Sari Jalan Harmoni, Bagan Serai City Center in Kerian district. The accused, represented by lawyers Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun and Amin Othman, appealed to the court to impose a light sentence in the form of a fine, taking into account the symptoms of ‘bipolar disorder’ that the accused has been facing since 2011, in addition to having to support his wife and two parents.
