Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution says the PH government is quite open with the agenda of defending freedom of speech among the people, but it also have to impose limits on such freedom due to sensitivities in the country.
“Today’s government is quite open with the agenda of defending freedom of expression among the people, indeed that is what we have been fighting for for a long time. However, freedom of speech also needs to have a line that is guarded so that it does not go beyond the limit to touch sensitivities that can cause annoyance or threaten public order.
TikTok and Freedom of Speech
“This is what I discussed during a meeting at the office this afternoon (yesterday) with Brother Hafizin Tajudin, Head of Public Policy of ByteDance which manages Tiktok Malaysia. A good enough discussion for the sake of a harmonious Malaysia towards strengthening national unity,” he wrote on Twitter.
