Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has been advised to resign by allies in his Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, reports The Straits Times of Singapore.
The paper says TS Muhyiddin was holed up with close advisers in Cabinet as well as the AG at his residence.
“PM was told the situation has become too chaotic and untenable,” The Straits Times says.
Parliament is delayed and no MPs can leave the building because of two COVID-19 cases detected.
Datuk Ashraf Wajdi Dusuki, youth chief of Umno also made an open call for the Premier to step down.
The latter accuses Muhyiddin of “treason”.
“Umno Youth urges Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to immediately resign,” he says.
