Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced it will contest all 56 seats in Johor’s upcoming state election, joining Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in declaring solo runs. Johor PN chairman Sahruddin Jamal stressed the coalition’s strength, while deputy chairman Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said PN remains open to talks to avoid opposition clashes.

BN and PH’s decisions followed Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s statement that BN would contest alone. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim later suggested early elections if coalition partners felt strained. The election, due by mid‑2027, could be held as early as August or September. Channel NewsAsia.
