Police Probe Viral Officer Over Alleged Insults in China

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have launched a disciplinary investigation into one of their personnel after a viral video showed her making derogatory remarks about locals while travelling in China. Inspector‑General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed the woman, identified as influencer Nur Asyiqin Mohd Dalil, is a member of the force. He urged calm, stressing that disciplinary and legal action would follow if laws were breached.

The officer remains on active duty during the probe. The controversy erupted after Asyiqin, using TikTok handle @ekyn.wong, posted clips covering her nose and claiming locals did not bathe. The video sparked backlash at home and abroad. Asyiqin later announced legal action against alleged defamatory remarks and harassment targeting her and her family.
