As of 9:30 pm on August 31, nearly 850,000 Malaysians spent over RM50 million on the first day of the Penghargaan Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) said the overwhelming response caused heavy transaction surges, slowing down MyKasih payment terminals at several outlets.

Despite disruptions, all transactions were processed. MOF and MyKasih will boost system capacity and conduct overnight maintenance to ensure smoother operations from September 1. The RM100 one-off SARA credit, valid until December 31, 2025, benefits over 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above, and can be used at 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide.
