SINGAPORE, 21 May — A man who sued the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung, the Attorney-General, and others had his applications dismissed by the High Court. Judge Andre Maniam ruled that his injunction against IMH was contrary to law and public interest. The man, Frank Lee, was arrested in July 2024 for wrongfully confining a woman and subsequently warded at IMH three times. He filed a 135-page suit in April 2026, claiming he sought no compensation but wanted IMH barred from confining anyone again.

In his statement of claims, Lee had included a 41-page affidavit titled, “The Truth About Psychiatry”. There, he outlined how “psychiatry is harming human beings,” and why it is the “most evil hoax in the history of mankind”. Amongst other “truths”, Lee said that “the existence of a human ‘mind’ and the existence of diseases of such a mind are beliefs, not facts”.
