The education ministry has completed guidelines for developing vertical schools, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and student well-being. Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh said the guidelines—covering design, acoustics, lighting, ventilation, emergency routes, and strata management—will soon be presented to the Cabinet.

In response to DBKL’s proposal for a 10–17 storey school, Wong said the ministry consulted key stakeholders including the housing and local government ministry and fire department. Proposed models include schools on reserved land, integrated with community facilities, or part of mixed-use developments. Vertical schools will only be approved in high-density areas after thorough evaluations by technical agencies and the ministry.
