Annie Choong, Malaysia’s first female Olympian, passed away at age 90. A trailblazer for Malaysian women in sports, Annie made history by competing in the 100-meter sprint at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, representing Malaya as the only female athlete in the debut contingent. The Malaysian Athletics Federation honored her legacy, describing her as a pioneer who opened doors for future generations of female athletes. Known for her speed and determination, Annie inspired many, including notable athletes like Datuk B Rajamani and Datuk Marina Chin.
