Despite severe damage to the vehicle, the pair escaped with only cuts and bruises. That same day, Ma proposed, and the couple registered their marriage on July 29. Their parents expressed joy, calling them “bound by life and death.” The lorry driver was unharmed, and the incident strengthened the couple’s resolve to spend their lives together.
