SHAH ALAM – Kedah Perikatan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has welcomed the possibility of former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin contesting in Kedah. Sanusi said the state is open to all political figures, stressing that Malaysia’s democratic system allows anyone to run for election.

He noted Khairy’s roots through his mother and familiarity with local culture. The comment follows UMNO’s suggestion that Khairy could help revive the party’s fortunes in the state. Khairy, along with Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, was recently readmitted into UMNO as part of a broader initiative to strengthen the party.
