Usually, it is don’t drink and drive. That applies to alcoholic drinks.
In Malaysia, the law prevents driving using slippers or barefoot.
An incident reported by local portals this week shows a driver getting fined for driving in slippers.
A short video of the incident in Penang is circulating on social media.
It shows a traffic police officer booking a driver of a lorry for wearing slippers.
As usual, Netizens made fun of the incident and questioned why the authorities issue fines to drivers for wearing slippers while driving.
The Road Transport Department, however, explains why. It says it is an offence for drivers of public service vehicles — taxis, buses, lorries and e-hailing cars — to drive without wearing shoes.
They can be fined RM150 not only for not wearing shoes but also if they do not wear ‘neat clothes”.
No idea, though, if a private car driver will get fines for not wearing shoes.
