A 79‑year‑old man in Kuching lost RM9.082 million after falling victim to a fake share and IPO investment scheme through a mobile app called TBGIA. Police said the suspect contacted the victim in January 2026, promising high returns.

Victim Received Only RM1,000 From RM9 Million Investment

Enticed, the victim made 27 transfers into nine accounts but received only RM1,000 before realising he had been cheated.

The app displayed false profits that could not be withdrawn. Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 10 years’ jail, a fine, or whipping.
