According to the police’s annual scams and cybercrime brief on February 18, 2023, the reported cases of e-commerce scams have escalated dramatically. In 2023 alone, a staggering 9,783 cases were documented, representing a twofold increase from the previous year’s count of 4,762.

Of particular concern is the notable rise in scams orchestrated through Facebook, where nearly half of all reported incidents occurred.
