Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has shared details of a fall during a walking exercise in January that left him with serious injuries. The 98‑year‑old former prime minister said his right leg suddenly lost strength, causing him to collapse and suffer a fractured hip joint and head injury.

He was rushed to the National Heart Institute (IJN), where doctors struggled initially to ease his pain. Mahathir remained under treatment for several months before being discharged in March. He explained that while the pain has lessened, he continues to face challenges controlling his leg movements, though he can now stand again.
