Malaysia-Japan Partner on Bird’s Nest Biotechnology for Therapeutic Medicine

PUTRAJAYA, July 14 – Malaysia and Japan have launched a landmark collaboration in biotechnology through a research partnership between Glyken Bio Products Sdn. Bhd. and Japan’s Ortho Group, focusing on bird’s nest nanopeptide technology for therapeutic medicine and wellness solutions. Facilitated by the Bioeconomy Development Corporation, the initiative will drive joint research, clinical studies, and innovation aimed at supporting healthy longevity.

The agreement was signed by Glyken founder Eric Shak and Ortho Group chairman Dr. Hiroyasu Tomo, with the collaboration valued at over RM4 million and projected to generate up to RM40 million in commercialisation. Bioeconomy Corporation CEO Mohd Khairul Fidzal Abdul Razak said the partnership could lead to treatments for osteoarthritis, bone defects, sports injuries, chronic wounds, and age-related diseases.
