SINGAPORE, July 12 – A 27‑year‑old Malaysian, Suriya Ganisan, pleaded guilty to three charges under the Road Traffic Act after driving into the heavy vehicle lane at Woodlands Checkpoint to avoid traffic and hitting an auxiliary police officer. The incident occurred on Sept 26, 2025, when Suriya ignored instructions to rejoin the car queue and accelerated, striking officer Muhamad Irzan bin Masrabi in the abdomen.

Irzan sustained serious injuries. Suriya was later intercepted before entering the Malaysian checkpoint. Two further charges will be taken into consideration during sentencing, according to reports by Shin Min Daily News.
