A 35-year-old man who tried to snatch a submachine gun from a sentry at a police station in Penang was drunk, according to Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad who added that the man told the sentry at the Dato Keramat police station to open the door to the police station compound while uttering profanities.

“The police personnel gave him a warning and advised him to leave the place, but the suspect moved towards him and tried to snatch the machine gun HK MP5 from him,” said Hamzah in a statement today. However, Hamzah said police personnel managed to ward him off but he took a helmet and tried to attack the policeman but was then apprehended.
