SEREMBAN, July 21, 2026 — MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong has defended the party’s cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Negeri Sembilan state election, stressing that the arrangement does not amount to a political merger.
Responding to criticism over the electoral pact, Wee said the cooperation was aimed at ensuring a stable state government capable of delivering development and addressing public concerns.
MCA pride
He emphasised that MCA would retain its own ideology, policies and role as an independent voice, particularly on issues affecting the Chinese community, vernacular education, religious freedom and Malaysia’s multicultural society.
Wee added that the party’s support was not unconditional and pledged MCA would oppose any policy that undermined the rights and interests of the rakyat, while urging voters to back candidates committed to resolving bread-and-butter issues.
