KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 — The Health Ministry has urged Malaysians to observe tuberculosis (TB) precautions during Ramadan bazaars and breaking fast gatherings, citing risks in crowded and enclosed spaces. A total of 596 new TB cases were reported nationwide during the sixth epidemiological week, bringing cumulative cases to 3,161.
TB Precautions
Sabah recorded the highest number with 755 cases, followed by Selangor (596), Sarawak (332), Johor (280), and Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya (244). The ministry stressed that TB spreads more slowly than influenza or Covid-19 but requires prolonged exposure. Public awareness, early detection, and preventive measures are key to ensuring a safe Ramadan.
