Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said politicians who have strayed from their original struggle complain more about rising costs than small traders. He noted that field surveys revealed small traders show resilience, often expressing gratitude even for microloans of RM10,000. In contrast, larger businesses and certain politicians voiced stronger dissatisfaction.

Speaking after visiting Pasar Tani Taman Melawati, Anwar highlighted the government’s RM5 billion micro‑financing facility announced on 17 May, aimed at benefiting 400,000 micro‑entrepreneurs with loans up to RM100,000 at rates as low as 4 percent. He urged agencies to explain these schemes directly to traders.
