The Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur has acquitted and discharged Mohd Azhar Che Mat Dali, a former political secretary to ex-Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, from seven charges of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to RM6.48 million. The charges involved allegedly accepting bribes from a contractor company to secure defence ministry projects.

Aide freed
The court made the decision during the prosecution stage proceedings, stating the lack of evidence. Mohd Azhar had pleaded not guilty to charges, including soliciting a RM5 million bribe and accepting bribes amounting to RM1.35 million for selecting the company as a strategic partner and maintenance contractor.
