At least five people were killed and dozens injured when two trains collided near Jakarta on April 27, prompting a massive rescue operation. Officials said four people remained trapped in the wreckage as first responders worked through the night.
Five Dead
The crash occurred when a long-distance train slammed into a stationary commuter train at Bekasi Timur station, about 25km from the capital. Survivor Sausan Sarifah, 29, described the terrifying moment: “I thought I was going to die.” She suffered a broken arm and deep thigh wound. Authorities continue rescue efforts while investigating the cause of the deadly collision.
