The family intends to appeal to the High Court, hoping for leniency under Article 25 of Japan’s Penal Code, which allows suspended sentences. Faiq, believed to be a victim of an online fraud syndicate, was charged under provisions similar to Malaysia’s Section 420 and Section 34.
