SINGAPORE, July 8 – A 51-year-old man, Mohamad Zakir Jaafar, pleaded guilty to raping and molesting a 71-year-old woman with dementia after being caught on CCTV. Zakir first learned the victim’s address when his wife helped her home in 2022. He later visited her at night on at least four occasions, showing pornographic videos and committing sexual acts.

The victim, assessed as lacking mental capacity, was deemed a vulnerable person under law. Zakir faced eight charges, including possession of weapons, with three taken into consideration. Prosecutors described the case as “egregious sexual assault” and sought a sentence of up to 16 years.
