Petronas has announced that it has an excess workforce and will undergo a “workforce restructuring.” Starting in the second half of 2025, employees deemed unnecessary will be laid off. The company has assured that affected workers will receive “appropriate assistance.”

Petronas

According to Petronas CEO, the company currently employs 52,000 people, but only 16,000 are considered “key catalysts” or core employees. Does this means that up to 36,000 others could face termination? No one is giving a straight answer. The restructuring aims to streamline operations and improve efficiency. However, uncertainty looms over thousands of employees as they await further details on their future within the company.
