New: Trump Extends Ceasefire With Iran ‘indefinitely’

1 min read

On April 21, US President Donald Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire with Iran, just hours before it was set to expire. He said the decision followed Pakistan’s request to allow peace talks more time. The ceasefire, which began two weeks ago, has already reduced fighting but tensions remain high as the US Navy continues its blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran’s leaders have not officially responded, though Tasnim News Agency reported Iran never requested an extension. Advisers to Iran’s parliament dismissed Trump’s move as a ploy, warning that the blockade itself constitutes ongoing aggression.
