On April 1, 2025, the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple along Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, became a temporary shelter after a massive gas pipeline explosion struck the area. Temple adviser R Maickavasagam said committee members and devotees opened the gates to assist scores of injured residents, some with burns, bleeding wounds, and broken bones. Within an hour, police and paramedics arrived, turning the temple into an emergency relief centre. Medical volunteers and the Red Crescent Society provided first aid, while food, tents, and prayer spaces were offered to all, regardless of background, showcasing community solidarity.
