SEREMBAN, July 17, 2026 – Bersatu has announced it will contest 24 state seats in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan election, including two candidates from Parti Urimai, under its own party logo. President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the move reflects Bersatu’s maturity and recognition as one of Malaysia’s most influential parties, with 700,000 members nationwide.

The decision sets up direct clashes with former allies in Perikatan Nasional (PN), with at least eight constituencies expected to see head-to-head battles. Among the candidates are former Ampangan assemblyman Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek, aiming to reclaim his seat, and Ridzuan Ahmad, contesting Gemas under Wawasan. Muhyiddin stressed that contesting solo demonstrates Bersatu’s confidence and growing strength in Malaysia’s political landscape.
