PETALING JAYA, June 6 – PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has confirmed that PAS and Umno leaders met last night in Kuala Lumpur amid renewed calls to revive the Muafakat Nasional (MN) alliance. Hadi downplayed the gathering as a “regular meeting”, saying he was not directly involved.

PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad and secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan were among those present, while Umno’s political bureau also met at the same venue. Two days earlier, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man urged cooperation with Umno in Johor’s upcoming polls. Hadi said cooperation with new parties would depend on their strength and influence.
