SIBU, 23 May — The Sessions Court sentenced a 23-year-old man to 30 years’ imprisonment and nine strokes of the cane for committing incest with his 14-year-old niece. Judge Musyiri Peet imposed 10 years’ jail and three strokes for each of three charges under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, to run consecutively.
Incest
The offences occurred in Kanowit between June 2025 and February 2026. A doctor later found the victim 31 weeks pregnant, leading to the man’s arrest on May 11, 2026. He was unrepresented, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Cynthia Emmelda Jerry handled the case.
