E‑Hailing Driver Fined RM101,750 for Illegal Zam‑Zam Water Import

News Story (100 words) An e‑hailing driver, Syed Fazillah Syed Assimie, 41, was fined RM101,750 by the Klang Magistrate’s Court after being found guilty of importing 5,500 bottles of zam‑zam water through West Port in 2021. Magistrate Mohd Hirman Ab Raub imposed the fine, equivalent to 10 times the goods’ value, with a one‑year jail term in default.

Zam‑Zam Water Import

The court also ordered payment of RM2,035 in customs duty and forfeiture of the water to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. Defence counsel sought leniency citing family responsibilities, but prosecutors urged deterrence. A stay of execution was granted pending appeal, with bail set at RM20,000.
