Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that the RON95 petrol subsidy rationalisation will proceed as planned, despite rising global oil prices due to the Israel-Iran conflict. He assured that the move will not affect the majority of Malaysians, as 85% to 95% will remain protected. Anwar emphasised the importance of reallocating subsidies to support the poor, improve education, and enhance public services. He also criticised the opposition for spreading negative narratives, calling their claims a political gimmick aimed at undermining public confidence during critical economic reforms.
